Night For Nicola

Rob Jones is holding a charity evening to raise funds for Rotherham General Hospitals INTENSIVE CARE UNIT.

The reason I am holding this charity evening is because my partners cousin Nicola Stevens aged 34, was diagnosed with meningitis (Meningoencephalitis), Septicemia, Pneumonia, Cyanobacteria.

Nicola fell into a coma on the 9th of October 2011 for 10 agonising weeks and was cared for by the Intensive Care Unit.

Nicola is described by her family and friends as the life and soul of any party, good fun, bubbly with a heart of gold. So it was extremly devestating to see her in this state.

Nicola's family and close friends was told to expect the worse as her condition was described as critical. Nicola's condition continued to detriate as she slipped further in a coma and didnt respond well to the treatment. She was placed in isolation and her family conintued to support each other, praying that there would be an improvent.

After 10 weeks, fortunately, Nicola's health slowly began to improve day by day. She remained in ICU and the staff there have to be commended for there high quality care.

After several weeks, Nicola eventually came fully out of her coma and was able to slowly communicate. She was able to nod her head and blink, but this was a massive improvement. This was the best Christmas present the family could wish for.

These improvements continued and eventully, Nicola was discharged from ICU to a rehabilitation ward, where staff there continued to support her mental and physically. She learnt to walk again, and had regular physio sessions. All the tiny things we take for granted in life had to be learnt again.

In February, 2012 Nicola was discharged from hospital to home. She is doing extremely well but continues to have physio along with other therapy as it will be a long time before she is 100%

Nicola along with her family are grateful to the amazing support she was shown during this terrible time. With that said, we are celebrating the fact that she fighted through this ordeal by holding this charity evening to raise funds for the department so that someone else can benefit.

The evening will be held at the Brooklands Club, Rotherham Road, Maltby, Rotherham on the 29th June 2012 at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £7 per person and have to be pre purchased by messaging myself, Shaun Everitt or Kirsty Stevens.

Supporting the evening is the amazingly talented Nicola Marie who wil be performing as Lady GaGa and Madonna. Drag Queen Miss Thunderpussy will also take to the stage. Matt Butcher, Director of BC's Promotions will be providing the disco. Its with thanks to all the artists for there time and support.

There are no concessions, however, children can attend. Please note that the Drag Queen's show can be blue. There is no reserved seating, so please arrive promptly. No ticket, No entry. Management reserves the right to refuse entry.
