No, denlin (she) and willman (he) are maintaining that you don't use BODMAS unless there's brackets used (and other random rules we haven't been able to establish). Everybody else is saying they're wrong, and using numerous sources to back up that opinion (including willman's source which doesn't say what he thought it did).

Ruby, 5 is the right answer.

 

Operator precedence is absolutely non-negotiable in maths, and is as described

 

Anyone who thinks it is 0 needs to go back to basics.

 

Reverse Polish Notation forces you to adopt operator precedence, which is why it's so good for pocket calculators - no need for brackets.

 

This is like a thread arguing about what country the Eiffel Tower is in. If a few people insist it's in Blackpool, it does not change the fact that it is in France.

So what you are saying is most people are so thick that they think Blackpool is a country with a structure called er Blackpool tower which most people will have heard of but when asked for name of country they come up with Blackpool, :D:D
