Poem for Rescue Dogs

Having a lazy afternoon but there's nothing on TV and i was bored! So thought i'd write a poem and share it with you guys.

I'll call it 'Rescue Dog'

Another family walk through the gate.

I run over to say 'hello' and wonder how much longer i'll have to wait?

They pass me by with just a sideways glance.

All i need is love, why won't they give me a chance?

I'm cold, i'm scared and i'm all alone.

All i want is a warm bed and a home to call my own.

I'm very friendly and i love to play.

'But he's not right for us' is what i hear people say.

I watch other dogs as they come and go.

I wait patiently for my family- but they never show.

I really am a good boy, so why am i still here?

When will my family find me? In a week? A month? A year?

It wouldn't take much to keep me happy.

But nobody cares, cuz i'm just another Staffie.

I do hope you`re not fibbing about writing that poem, if you did its very good and well done :suspect::P:P

Very rude!! No, i'm not lying. I did write it. I have 6 screwed up pieces of paper here to prove it!

The next poem i write will be about a very well behaved doggy i know called Rex!! x

Here it is- a bit rushed so it's not brilliant.

This is for Jackie and Rex (formerly of Rain Rescue):

Still just a baby, i was left all alone.

Nobody to care for me, no people of my own.

In the days that followed, i really was quite scared.

But very soon i realised- the rescue people cared.

They fed me, hugged me and kept me warm.

But what i really wanted was a home to call my own.

I waited and waited but no-one ever came.

What had i done wrong? Was i to blame?

Then one day it happened, all my dreams came true.

In walked a lovely lady (and her mister, too)

'Hello beautiful baby' is what i heard her say.

'How would you like to come home with me and him today'?

I couldn't quite believe it, life would never be the same.

I had a lovely brand new Mum- Jackie was her name.

Now i've settled in and i'm as happy as could be.

I'm very naughty sometimes- but i know my Mummy loves me!

I'm very fussy with my food, won't sleep in my new bed.

I prefer to climb up onto mum's and curl up there instead!

Out on my walks, i try to be good.

But i just can't resist that lovely pile of mud!

'Look at the state of you' is what my Mummy said.

'Home time now' she laughed, 'bath for you, then bed!'
