Golf balls flying around our parks.

Why not section off areas for these who play golf. Or would that be too easy a solution.

Angel.

Of course that is too easy Angel. Although common sense would say find an area up the top end which is far less busy.

A sectioned off area for people playing golf. Genius!

You should come up with a name for your new invention. Can I suggest 'golf course'?

https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/out--about/parks-woodlands--countryside/all-about-us/byelaws.html

Page 7, para 22:

A person shall not in the pleasure ground drive, pitch or chip a solid golf ball.

This covers most if not all parks in Sheffield.

Unfortunately, unless the dogs were on a leash, they were also in contravention...

14 A person shall not cause or suffer any dog belonging to him or in his charge

(i) To enter or remain in the pleasure ground, unless such dog be and continue to be under proper control and be effectually restrained from causing annoyance to any person and from worrying or disturbing any animal or waterfowl and from entering any ornamental water;

(ii) To enter or remain in any of the pleasure grounds mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto, unless such dog be and continue to be controlled by a leash, slip, cord, string or the like.

Just be sure not to play “Knurr and Spell”, “Tip-cat” or “Peggy”.

I believe they do. They call them golf courses. Indeed there is one in Graves Park, but like the tennis courts, the bowling greens and sports pitches you have to pay to use them.

TipCat:

"The aim was to tip up the cat and then strike it towards the stumps with the object of dislodging the bails. Opposing fielders were allowed to catch the cat in flight – an interesting challenge which sits ill with current thinking on health and safety."
