Lucyjackson   10 #13 Posted March 1, 2012 I am expert at putting my foot in my mouth  I am also very good at engaging mouth before brain gets into action, especially when my danders up.  I feel terrible when i have calmed down but once the words are out there is no getting them back.  Tact is not one of my strong points
 Share this content via...

barbiegirl80 Â Â 10 #16 Posted March 2, 2012 I drop myself in it ALL of the time! I don't mean to and it's never meant maliciously, but somehow (especially with certain people) my mouth just sort of...runs away with me. I've come to realise it's just the person I am. People who know me take it with a pinch of salt now
 Share this content via...
TrashyBlonde   10 #17 Posted March 2, 2012 Did someone mention Moi ? MrMoran you have said nothing to remotely upset or shock me (I have heard far worse) What does 'tick' me off though is when people do things that affect you without even explaining their actions. That is lower than a snakes belly  Are you still up for Sunday night MrMoran ? I hope that you are not all shirt and no trousers
 Share this content via...
Ms Macbeth   70 #18 Posted March 2, 2012 No because she had a smile on her face when she nodded so I initially thought she might be joking. It was only a little later when I saw a deaf aid in one ear that I realised she wasn't joking. I'd put the object to her other ear which was totally deaf I found out later.  And if you really want to get it right when talking to or about deaf people, I suggest you use the term 'hearing aids'.  I do think she might have warned you though. denlin   12 #19 Posted March 2, 2012 When gulf war first started my friends husband (now ex) said he was going to volunteer so I sent him his call up papers complete with a street map of Addis Ababa which was a sheet of sandpaper and an offer of 0% finance from D C Cooks on the all new H-registered Challenger tank. I have to admit the envelope did look quite official. It went down like a lead balloon and they took nark for quite a few days:roll::hihi:
 Share this content via...
Bubble3082 Â Â 10 #20 Posted March 2, 2012 I then said; "are you deaf or something?" and the girl responded by nodding her head. One night we were all gathered round the TV when a sex scene came on. Mortified at watching it with my nan, I turned to her and, trying to joke, put my hands over her eyes, saying 'cover your eyes nan, you can't see this', forgetting that she had bad glaucoma which she was very upset and sensitive about. I could literally feel the cringes from everyone and the silence was deafening......
 Share this content via...

charlie9865 Â Â 10 #22 Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) I think everyone has over stepped the mark at some point or another. Weather to be malicious or not, we are all human and all make mistakes. And we have to remember exactly why we over stepped the mark if wrong or not. Â I have way over stepped the mark before, I have majorly at times with friends. But I am someone that is quick to admit when I AM wrong. I tend to joke about a lot now with friends, which can seem like I am over stepping the mark now and then. Â But my friends all know me well enough to know when I am joking or not. They also know me well enough to know when I am not myself or otherwise. And they are also friend enough to be there for me to. Â Â I do speak my mind a lot which yesterday my friend they call Teresa B (her and her sons used to be my neighbours) said I am just like she was when she was my age when she messaged me on fb. Â I am more careful and aware with over stepping the mark with my friends I have now. Out of respect for what they have done to help me, as not many people have ever done for me what these lot have. Â Then again I can't over step it too much my as my two longest friendships have been long. I am sill friends with the girls now one I have been mates with 18 yr and the other 10. Â If me stepping over the mark ever cost me these friendships, I would be devastated. Can't see that happening though I love and respect these guys, and how they have been there for me. Like I said I would never put these friendships in that position. Â Besides they would never do some thing to me to make me want to. Good friendships are hard to come buy.
