aelfheah Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I bought an LG DVX550 dvd (divx) player for about £15 second hand on ebay after much searching, and actually posted here about it. It served me well for over 6mths but has started to switch itself off after about 30mins play? The only thing that has changed before I noticed this is that I've added surround sound speakers (as posted on another thread here) which I'm sure are correctly wired up. Is the dvd player at the end of it's life or is there some kind of upgrade? I'm loathe to get rid as it's one of the few affordable and great players that plays downloaded divx files as well as pre-recorded? It seems that this model is not being made any more? Thanks
intruder 600 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 try unpluging the speakers,if it works,u got em in wrong way.ours has surround sound,if pluged in wrong way,on for ten mins then shuts off.guz into protected mode.
aelfheah Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Ok, thanks, I'll also try a dvd without surround to see if it's not the player?
aelfheah Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 Still happening, I must have bungled the wires then?
melthebell Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 dont suppose theres an option in the settings for a sleep mode?
hotrock Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 How Bizarre, my DVD player/recorder, has stated doing the same thing this weekend, i have tried unplugging it etc, but all to no avail, it is completely random, it switched off after 1hr 3Min's, the first time, it took a further 4 hrs before it would power up again, the player is a Toshiba, it is 3 years old, but has had very little use, in fact i reckon it has only played around 20 to 30 films, i have presumed it could be something like a dry solder problem, but i am not very good with all the tech stuff, so i could be way wrong,
terminator Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Maybe internal power capacitors failing. However saying that ive just done a Logix DVD player laser was not running free lubricated tracks it now runs forever compaired to 15 mins then turned off.
