Which was your favourite small local shop in the Owlerton area

Remember walking home from the Smugglers and trying to decide if it was a meat and potatoe pie with relish or wait till Taplin Rd for fish and chips.

Sorry cant remember the names of the shops. Had them a minute ago. best chippie in UK. Hang on , just remembered Eddie Booths. One out of two ain't bad.

 

The Smugglers was an old haunt of mine too,was the pie shop the one on the opposite side in the row of shops? They only sold pies and had a bottle of relish on the counter.

Jack and Dolly Pearson Elm Terrace,made sandwiches for steel works on bradfield rd and Swan mortons a good old fashion corner shop .Also Chapels tobacconist on bradfield rd ,a lovely couple .

lunns fish and chip shop on holme lane,gordons on taplin with is parsly fish cakes,jacks sasperalla bar :Don langsett rd.

 

 

anybody remember peter loo'ee's chinese fish and chip shop nr jacks on langsett rd.

 

he used to have us in tears with is chinese yorkshire accent.

Peter Loos I,d forgotten him when we lived on Snow Hill Broad St our lass made me drag to his place every week for curried scampi,they were massive done in batter they tasted lovely but what puzzled me was there were fish tails sticking out on the end.I never got to the bottom of this mystery ??.
