Village Owl   10 #1 Posted February 12, 2012 Description  This is a 6.5-7 mile walk and wil take us roughly 4.5 hours. The route is lovely and once on the crags it offers some wonderful views of the surrounding area. We pass through Wheata woods into Wharncliife Woods, and then onto Wharncliffe Chase. From there we will make our way along the crags, going right to the end of them before rejoining Wharncliffe Chase and following paths back through the woods to the start. The walk and terrain is classed as easy to moderate, and we will be going over stiles, walking on well used paths, which may be uneven in places and which can be muddy after rain.  Details:  Start time: 10:30am  Meeting point: Outside The Old Harow Pub, main Street, Grenoside.  Parking: Roadside parking in Grenoside near the pub.  Public Transport: Local buses run from the city centre to the stop outside the Pub in Grenoside.  Walk Leaders: Village Owl, Mrs DJ,  Additional information:  Anyone who is able to offer lifts, could they put this in their post, thanks.  Importamt:  Anyone joining the walk should be of a level of fitness relative to the walk being undertaken, be appropriately dressed, have suitable footwear, and have with them enough food and drink for the duration of the walk. choogling   14 #3 Posted February 12, 2012 As an alternative to this lovely walk less energetic walkers or people who just want to see some fantastic views might try this one.Start off at Lowoods club Station Rd Deepcar Walk south up Station road, turn left at the first roadway you come to and follow your nose till you come to the pond.Keep to the right side of the pond and follow the path right to the top of the crags. The path is rocky and muddy in parts so good boots are a must , nice easy walk for beginners.Take your camera for some stunning shots, see my other posts for some examples on flicker and photobucket.
