Waifs and strays photo meet??

Hi, I know there has been some activity on this front and some of you meet up to go and take pictures. I was wondering if there was any interest in having a drink and a chat somewhere to talk about possible activities for this group??

I have been a member of a photographic society for a few years but am not really involved at the moment as I haven't had much time and the meetings tend not to be as interactive as I'd like.

I'm in Chesterfield but am happy to come to Sheffield for this. I just thought it might be a good opportunity to give advice to one another and to share ideas and maybe even organise a couple of trips?

I'm not into forming a new 'society', but the idea of an informal group that meets on a monthly basis with a trip or two in between, really appeals.

If I'm way off the mark here, or if it's already happening and I've missed it, just shout at me!

All the best,

Aly

it's something that appeals to me too, though current commitments as a parent are somewhat prohibitive at the mo :(

How about a Saturday afternoon for this meet up? (I was going to say 'Sunday', but the best pubs are doing carvery then and are too packed to host a group like this!)

There are regular discussions about meeting up here, but a lot of them seem to end up in if/buts/maybes and nothing actually happens.

I'd suggest you pick a date/time and ask if anyone fancies it - if you get a few, go for it. :)

Hi, I came across your post and I, much like yourself, found myself out looking for groups of amateur photographers to learn from and practice with but couldn't find anything, so I set up a group of my own. We are having our first trip out this weekend to Sherwood forest and it sounds like (weather permitting) we should have a good turnout, it would be great to see more people there.

At the moment the group is based on Facebook but I hope to build a standalone website some day when we gain some momentum. If you're on facebook join us on link below:

I have also set up a Flickr group, although it's pretty lonely on there at the moment.

I have put a post on here already with more details too: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=936818.

Any questions, let me know.

If you're interested in doing anything very local mesmorgan, I can put H in nursery for a couple of hours and get out :)

We're doing some night photography in Sheffield City Centre on Sunday 25th March, meeting at 1800 in Barkers Pool in front of the city hall. If you're on facebook the event details are on the link below.

I'd consider coming on this. Struggling to motivate myself into taking pictures recently and more often than not I find myself leaving my camera at home, or in the bag. So, anything that spurs me on would be a good thing.
