Coops do vary considerably in quality.

What make is the coop? Does the company have a website you can give us a link to so we can 'look' at the quality of the coop?

Your neighbours can't make you get rid of a few hens unless you have a clause in your deeds (or contract if renting) that forbids them. They are classed as livestock not as domestic pets. It would be different if you had a lot of them or had a cockerel.

we have chickens and ducks, my neighbour has chickens and other neighbour has doves, and 3 local freinds have chickens, none of these make enough noise to cause complaint and like chez2 says they cant force you to get rid its only cockerals you cant keep in resi areas
