Bruno   10 #1 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) FIRST of our fortnightly Healthier Health Walks  New People Are Always Welcome  These walks progress from our Wednesday Health Walks which run every week from Chapeltown, and are slightly longer, giving people a sense of achievement as they progress each week as well as getting to know more people.  Our Thursday walks will be at various locations.  To join us on a Health Walk we ask that you contact us first, there are three ways to do this.   1. Via the contact page on our website http://www.shamblers.org.uk  2. Call us on 07977 690100 (note: we are a non profitable organisation, which means we won't be able to call you back, if we miss your call please keep trying?)  3. Post in this thread.   Any last minute decision to either join us, or deciding not to, or running late I can be contacted directly on the morning on 07968449520 (Paul)  Walk: Health Walk - Rivelin Valley  Date: Thursday 2nd February 2012  Start time: Meet at 10:20am for a 10:30am start  Meeting point: Malin Bridge Tram Stop  Approx distance & duration: 4.5 miles 2.5hrs.  Route: Malin Bridge - Rivelin Valley to A57 and back  Terrain: roadside, paths, tracks, mud, wet leaves, un-even surfaces  Parking: opp meeting point £1 or roadside free parking.  Refreshments & toilets: Rivelin Cafe.  Public transport: Plenty of buses to Hillsborough or Tram.   Walk Leaders: Bruno  Risk Assesment: Wet leaves, Traffic, some road walking, slippery paths, mud.  IMPORTANT: Anyone joining the walk should be of a level of fitness relative to the walk being undertaken, be appropriately dressed, have suitable footwear.  Further info:  These walks are designed for all ages, if you have never been on a walk, stuck in the house with nothing to do, then this is a ideal oppertunity to get out and about and a good way to get into walking with maybe joining us on our other walks, a outdoor health questionaire will be required to be filled in before you start the walk, so if you are recovering from a operation or illness, sat at home bored? then these are for you.  Health Screening:  For most people, physical activity does not pose a hazard, however:  a. Has a doctor ever said you have a heart condition? b. Do you feel pain in your chest when you do physical activity? c. Do you ever lose balance because of dizziness or ever lose consciousness? d. In the past month have you had pain in your chest when you were NOT doing physical activity? e. Do you have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by a change in your physical activity?  If you answered yes to any of the Health Screening questions, you must seek medical advice before participating in a walk.  The Next Thursday Daytime Health Walk Will Be: 16th February Edited January 31, 2012 by Bruno
 Share this content via...
