gayle123 Â Â 10 #13 Posted January 30, 2012 We used a company called chapeltown glazing, they great bunch of lads. Small company with very good prices. There was no pressure selling or anything.
 Share this content via...
Paul Joseph   10 #14 Posted February 15, 2012 I got several quotes from other companies and decided to use these. Excellent all round service. Had all house done 3 doors and 4 large bay windows including some smaller windows. Cost me a third less than other quotes.
 Share this content via...
cookadg   10 #15 Posted February 27, 2012 I asked them for a quote to repair some out-of-warranty work. The person I spoke to said they only repair work they have carried out. As this was their work I quoted the original job number and I was told "I'll check to see if it is our work." They never called back. The guy on the phone sounded like he wasn't interested and it was a bit of an insult to be told he'd have to 'check' it was them that carried out the work in the first place. I still had all the documentation and quoted the job number. I'll look for someone else who'll repair windows instead.
 Share this content via...
Justin Smith   10 #16 Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) We got Sheffield Windows to do a quite expensive job for us encasing our original leads in new double glazing, it wasn`t cheap but they did do a good job. Furthermore most of their staff are friendly and helpful, though it must be said that at least one of the people working there provides pretty compelling evidence for those who disapprove of inherited wealth........ Bass Man   10 #18 Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) It makes a nice change to hear Praise for a local Company! I have never used Sheffield Window Centre, I have always had repairs done by http://www.windowdoctoruk.co.uk another Sheffield based Company who I must say are also spot on. They also fit those anti snap door locks as well http://www.doorlockupgrades.co.uk and NO I'm not related to them before the cynics start! Furthermore most of their staff are friendly and helpful, though it must be said that at least one of the people working there provides pretty compelling evidence for those who disapprove of inherited wealth........  Not a full thumbs up unfortunately. Despite the fact they did a good job I was so shocked at the attitude of the aforementioned "manager" (I use the inverted commas advisedly....) that I wouldn`t actually use them again. It`s a bit of a shame actually because not only has it put me off them it`s also put me off using any "family owned" business. Why ? Well, if you have a problem the owner (another family member) will never go against his own family, it`s almost certain he`ll take their "side" in any dispute, it`s a natural human response, but the opposite of the normal supplier/customer relationship, in this case the customer is always wrong..... Interestingly, in my case, I don`t think the person concerned would have her attitude had it been a business she`d personally established and grown, or indeed she`d bought with her own money. I`ve established and grown my own business and so feel personally grateful to every customer we have. Surely that should be the normal attitude to your customers (particularly if it`s your own business) ? That`s assuming they`re actually customers of course, i.e. spending money (or at least genuinely intending to do so). morrismarina   10 #20 Posted February 1, 2021 Sheffield window centre refused to do repairs to my Windows supplied by them as they told me they only do guarantee repairs and they haven't got time! even though I said I would pay for their time. Very disappointing as I paid over £6500 about 20 years ago . I find it difficult to understand that they can't provide after sales service for their product surely no way to promote a business! lobster   54 #22 Posted February 2, 2021 Used them some years ago , not the cheapest but my experience, is you pay for what you get . Would use them again without hesitation
 Share this content via...

You can't blame them for not wanting to take on repair work for windows that are 20 years old. They have no obligation to do the work, and they are probably rushed off their feet doing new installs, possibly with reduced staff due to Covid. Not sure why you would expect a company to undertake repairs on 20 year old windows.
 Share this content via...
Janus   28 #24 Posted February 6, 2021 (edited) But if Morrismarina is willing to pay the amount quoted, I cannot see why a company would refuse. Surey it's doing work that they specialise in.  There must be a hidden agenda.  Edited February 6, 2021 by Janus
 Share this content via...
