Self employed accounts software

Hi.

 

Can anyone recommend an easy accounts software package for the self employed.

 

I have downloaded some free accounts templates for excel but have never used it before so perhaps a course for that may also be a good idea. Any recommendations will be welcome and anything free even better.

There is a selection of Free personal software from gizmo's software.

There is also Free Online Accounts Not sure if any of thses are what you are looking for.

My hubby uses Excel - we keep books and transfer everything to Excel - find it easy to use. I print off the necessary accounts for the vat every three months.

I have downloaded a free one called TAS Basics as its a dedicated package so will mess around with that for now.

 

Been recommended Sage or Quickbooks but they don't seem to have any trials to try out first and are a bit expensive otherwise.

Edit just downloading GNU cash so will have a look at that as well.

Xero is a very good online offering, see http://www.xero.com/. There's a free trial available too.
