MrsK1 Â Â 10 #49 Posted April 4, 2012 I have a 2-4-1 main course voucher if we order a nan. It's a good place to order when I don't have time to cook but want a substantial meal. Their curries are not bad, and I like their chili nan.
 Share this content via...
DerbyTup   10 #50 Posted April 4, 2012 I know "not bad" can mean "really excellent" in Yorkshire but let's be right about this, the "praise" for this place is very faint isn't it? With all the choice of Indian type places to go to, why would anyone want to go to a place where one of the regulars describes their curries as being "not bad". I should hope they aren't bad! In fact, let's go mad and expect that they are even good?  My experience of this restaurant isn't recent. It must be at least 2 years ago so, I don't know, maybe it's got new owners or a better chef whatever. But is was rubbish. I mean not even "average" or "decent".  That's why we've not been back since - and I've read nothing to convince me otherwise so far. alas_alas   10 #52 Posted April 4, 2012 Two stars out of five on Scores on the Doors:  http://www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk/business/balti-king-sheffield-57966.html  It's certainly not known for its quality or hygiene. I'm very surprised it's not been closed down permanently.
 Share this content via...
Ousetunes   10 #53 Posted April 4, 2012 'Cos it's open at about 4 in the morning and sometimes that's all you need.  Which, when your tastebuds have been obliterated by loads of beer and you can't see where you are going, makes sense! verona   10 #54 Posted April 4, 2012 Does it still have the picture of Vinne Jones and the owner on the wall?  I mean it must be good, Vinnie Jones went there about 20 years ago! LOL
 Share this content via...

There is also one of Chris Waddle about half the girth he is now.
 Share this content via...
spats   10 #56 Posted April 4, 2012 I worked in the same vicintiy of shops in Broomhill as Balti King. All I can say is when I saw what went on at the back of the restaurant it was enough to put me off forever! Lots of Indian Ready Meal packaging in their bin (?) Food delivered, dropped on floor & put back on trays, rubbish taken out of other shops bins (And I mean staff literally dangling themselves into the bins to get at the stuff!) & taking it into their kitchen. Best one ever was when chef came out back to have a breather...blew nose straight into apron then went back into kitchen! Yuk. Colin Foster   70 #57 Posted April 4, 2012 I've never read so much biassed nonsense in all my life! The food was nice but it was delivered too quick:huh: It miawed? do you people actually eat there or just join the bandwaggon to have a go at a decent bloke who runs a decent restaraunt? I ate there last night, had chicken and lamb saag madrass hot, egg chilli rice garlic nan, delicious! Tony will make you something not on the menu if you tell him your tastes, and I've never had food poisoning from there in the many times i've eaten there. I once had a dish I thought was a bit bland and made the mistake of telling the waiter; tony insisted on another dish for me and refused payment, what a gent. your aunt got you a decent prezzie there you should 'av enjoyed it  I agree. I've ordered a takeaway from there every week for the past 6 years. I've enjoyed every single one and never been ill.  I agree the restaurant has seen better days, but anyone who says the food is crap has obviously not been for ages. MazR Â Â 10 #60 Posted April 4, 2012 Agree with the general opinion: rubbish food (all the dishes seemed the same: bland and with weird little scrag ends of chicken, like the type you find in cheap ready meals), nice staff, absolutely no idea how it stays open.
