Speed Demon Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 What is the best sort of cheese to use for a regular pizza topping, should I use grated or the stuff you have to tear up into chunks. Also, what are the ready made bases like from the supermarkets and what is the best sort of tomato topping to go with the cheese. Can I use sliced salami from a packet like what they use for sandwiches and buffets or is there a special kind of peperoni to look out for. What about spices and seasoning, do I put cracked black pepper on during cooking or should that be used afterwards, any help would be appreciated.
joiner andy Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 think you would be better off typing how to make pitza from scratch at home. in your google bar
taxman Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 In the past I made my own pizzas. I used to put garlic and herbs into the dough before cooking then smothered it in tomato puree, cooked onions, mushrooms, peppers, sweetcorn, tuna and grated cheddar. I have less time and inclination to do that nowadays. I'm happy to buy a basic pizza and just add whatever I've got in as a topping, usually olives, mushroom, pepper, occasionally anchovies. I have been known to crack an egg on top for the final 5 minutes. I usually add a few turns of pepper before cooking.

Claret Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 We used to make quick and easy pizzas in the past. Take a ready baked panini, slice in half, cover with a little tomato sauce (onions, garlic, herbs and tinned toms cooked down until thick and rich), add cheese (whatever you fancy/have in the fridge), add toppings of cooked meat (all meat must be cooked as cooking a pizza will only warm the ingredients up), veg (such as peppers, olives, sliced toms etc) or anything you fancy really... and add more cheese before sticking in the oven for 10 mins. Experiment with different combinations until you work out your favourite.
