Nankypoo Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Boring I know but I feel so strongly about rip offs I have to let someone know. My (cheap) watch needed a new battery so off I go to Debenhams and go to the watch repairers there. Firstly quoted £8.50 then after much huffing its now £12.50 as its waterproof. Not impressed I go to Timpsons there its £8.50. Finally to T J Hughes only £2.50 done in two minutes, polite cheerful service no fuss, highly recommended for us tightwads.
markfor Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 It is very cheap to do it yourself and very easy Take back off and check type of battery and replace

I recommend TJ's as well, they give 12 months warranty on their batteries and I've had quite a few from there that have lasted well past that

biggsy Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 get to poundland they usualy have a big card with multi sizes in them for a £1............... Be careful with those cheap Chinese cells as they are so poorly made that they leak often and rot the -ve trminal from your watch:mad: Biggsy
bigsexydoug Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 dont they normally have to re-seal it for it become waterproof ?? i would be very suprised if the watch is now waterproof from tj hughes if it only took 2 mins. and only cost £2.50. most jewellers (i use barkers in hillsborough at £3) will say that the watch will NOT be waterproof afterwards . i hope the o.p relaises this
*Wallace* Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 It's just a thin rubber O ring,if it's not trapped it will be fine.
