Boring I know but I feel so strongly about rip offs I have to let someone know.

My (cheap) watch needed a new battery so off I go to Debenhams and go to the watch repairers there. Firstly quoted £8.50 then after much huffing its now £12.50 as its waterproof. Not impressed I go to Timpsons there its £8.50. Finally to T J Hughes only £2.50 done in two minutes, polite cheerful service no fuss, highly recommended for us tightwads.

I recommend TJ's as well, they give 12 months warranty on their batteries and I've had quite a few from there that have lasted well past that

Be careful with those cheap Chinese cells as they are so poorly made that they leak often and rot the -ve trminal from your watch:mad:

dont they normally have to re-seal it for it become waterproof ?? i would be very suprised if the watch is now waterproof from tj hughes if it only took 2 mins. and only cost £2.50.

most jewellers (i use barkers in hillsborough at £3) will say that the watch will NOT be waterproof afterwards .

i hope the o.p relaises this
