Well I for one am not a snob about bread you eat it and shortly afterwards you dispose of it. The only thing I will never eat is anything "baked" by greggs. I worked for them for 3 weeks and left in disgust. I have bought from £1 bakeries before and have enjoyed their stuff. They work on volume turnover and be warned, if you go late in the afternoon there will be nowt left.

Competition is rising in the bakery world as Poundbakery, the “pound shop baker” based in the North West, plans a significant expansion to add 50 new stores as it tries to compete with national chain Greggs.

Poundbakery, whose offerings include two meat pies for a pound, has been spun out of the Sayers bakery chain, which was bought out of administration three years ago. In the past 12 months, 36 of Sayers’ 150 stores have been converted to the budget format, with 20 more conversions to follow.

Sounds classy. A shop of fine quality baking that only uses the finest ingredients.

They do not claim any of the above, but from experience they are much better than Greggs. O.K. I know thats not hard.

I bought a couple of sausages rolls today. 2 fairly large sausage rolls for £1. Can't deny that's a bargain. Only problem is, they tasted very bland, and could tell the sausage meat used was of very cheap quality. Not to mention mushy. Ick! I'll stick with Staniforths in future.
