5 worst things about Sheffield.

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'm not after an argument - but name me 5...

  • Three indoor climbing walls,
  • great live music scene,
  • Ecclesall Woods,
  • some great pubs,
  • a good chance of seeing a fox or a badger on any given night.

Happy New Year!

1. Sheffield Homes waiting list

2. Allotment waiting list

3. Extortionate transport, beer and cigarette costs

4. Rachmanism/malinvestment (leading to empty shops, homelessness etc.)

5. Nimbyism (don't build houses there, that is the field I let my dog poo on)

Indoor climbing walls...WTF?!

Great live music scene...yeah, right...especially now the Boardwalk's gone, and the Grapes has stopped doing music

Ecclesall woods...go and live in the country if thats in your list mate

Great pubs, HMM - what if you don't drink?

and...seeing vermin at night, great...

I'd personally give you money if I could get the hell out of here right now, that list is shocking

1. People that think they're better than others around them and Sheffield Forum seems to be full of 'em - Pathetic. People that have no respect for other cultures and beliefs and have no knowledge of the past and just run their mouths on subjects they have no clue about.

2. People not picking up their dog's crap. Disgusting

3. Hills

4. Castle Market. Looks like a dump

5. Bus service - Horrendous.

Are you suggesting pubs are more important than housing people??

Bus fair prices definatly has to be one, and nobodys mentioned it.

1. Too many derelict buildings in the city centre like the old redgates toy shop building which has stood empty since the 1990s.

2. Too many Greggs bakers in the city centre.

3. Too many pointless traffic lights especially those at the bottom of Ecclesall Road near Waitrose which seem to serve no purpose other than to cause hold ups.

4. Takes too long to get anywhere on public transport especially if it is raining as Sheffield people don't seem to like walking anywhere when it rains. Cars seem to multiply when it rains.

5. People doing surveys & charity collections on Fargate.

The transport network - The rail connections are awful, and baring the M1 the connections to surrounding Cities are terrible.

try living in Colchester, the nearest motorways are 35-40 miles away (M11 and M25 at that), and the biggest road nearby, the A12 has some lunatic regularly throwing concrete block off bridges.

no tram, worse buses, extortionate taxis, trains to London that are so full around rush hour you can't get on or have to stand for an hour. the ONLY city it has a direct connection to is London.

I appreciate the M1, the A1, tram, proper trains, National Express, MegaBus etc etc so much having lived away from them.
