Graphics Card advice.

Hey.

I'm building a budget system for someone and I've hit a wall as to what graphics card to use.

I have a budget of about 65-70 left after I've bought all the other bits

Mainly it'll be used for internet browsing, the odd bit of Photoshop and he wants to be able to use his existing setup of DVI->TV for watching movies etc on his TV from the PC

So the card needs to have D-sub and DVI out at minimum.

I've found this card:

Sapphire RADEON HD 6570 2GB and it's within budget and fits the requirements.

But it seems to good to be true so is it any good?

Unless its a gaming rig I'd pretty much forget about the gfx card - you can get one with HDMI from about £20

My last couple of HTPC builds have used HD Radeon 5450, these and are great.

I have an RADEON HD 6570 an excellent card for the price. But, last time I looked, the DVI port does not carry any sound.

Looking on Google, http://www.channelpro.co.uk/reviews/6125/ati-radeon-hd-5450-review is cheap and has the video ports you are seeking. I have not used this card or examined its specification closely. I would expect you can get something a bit more fancy for your £65.

I'm aware that the sound doesn't go through the DVI port. His current setup sees sound carried from the sound card into his home theatre system. This will be the same on his new build.

He may be more impressed by having a HDMI all-in-one easy plugin option?

I have tried to convince him but he's stuck in his ways and tbf he's done a cracking job of routing all the cabling out of sight as the PC is on the opposite side of the room to his TV setup.

OK, can't be helped. How about re-introducing the SCART lead? :-)
