mmark Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Can anyone recommend a decent place to take my son and nephew to have their ears pierced over the Christmas break? Being lads, they would rather not go to Claire's or other 'girly' place but, whilst my son is 13, my nephew is only 6 so I don't want to take him to a dead rough tattoo parlour either. Is there a barber's shop or the like of anywhere?
ANGELFIRE1 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Genuine question, why on Gods earth would a boy of 13, let alone one of 6 want a pierced lug hole. Angel.
nubile Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 To ask such a question on SF shows either a total lack of knowledge of the place or is pure trolling. Either way, i'm sure they'll be lots of replies, as always when this question comes up.
mmark Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 Genuine question, why on Gods earth would a boy of 13, let alone one of 6 want a pierced lug hole. Angel. Sorry. My question wasn't meant to offend. Both my brother and I have our ears pierced and have done since we were 14 in my case and 12 in his. Therefore, when my lad asked, it seemed a reasonable request that would have been hypocritical to refuse. In my nephew's case, there are a number of lads in his class at school with pierced ears and, if you look around the city centre or precincts in the suburbs, I don't think you will find it uncommon. Further, I'm kind of pleased that my son has the respect to ask me to take him rather than him go somewhere inappropriate or, even worse, get a friend to do it for him. Finally, whilst I personally don't see any issue with this, I also think there will be far more important things to object to and fall out with my kids over as they get older than a small hole in their left ear lobe.
Lucy-Lastic Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 If you can get them to hold off until the start of the school summer holiday you might be better. Most schools in Sheffield insist that earings of any type are removed before PE and the 2 weeks you have now will not be long enough to heal.
cbr900 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 is it any different from girls earpiercing ???

whiteroses Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Thou Art in Chapel Walk is great. The staff are extremely friendly and, while it also offers tattoos, it's by no means a "rough" tattoo parlour. That said, I really think you're best putting the boys off until the school summer holidays. They're only going to have to take the studs out for PE or swimming and so on, and there's a real risk of infection if they're constantly taking them out and putting them back in again before the piercing is healed. This is especially the case when it comes to the six-year-old, who I'm guessing will be too young to clean and sterilise the piercing himself.
