cressida Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Christmas especially, can be a stressful time - what can cause this as just when people should be in a jolly and festive mood it can all go downhill, and can it be overcome?
trophyman Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 tongue in cheek i would say x-factor seriously though, the only factor i could think of would be the obvious one of cash or lack of it. The annual xmas works do is another factor to be considered along with domestic violence fuelled by drink. cannot understand why anyone argues at christmas, such a happy time
Alien52 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 "just when people should be in a jolly and festive mood " Should?Who says so?
Vague_Boy Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 People who have essentially drifted apart are forced to endure each others company for days on end in stressful circumstances. For some, the question becomes "is this as good as it gets"? Consumermas: A truly evil, evil time of year.
kittenta Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I would say money, families and alcohol. There are plenty of families who spend beyond their means at Christmas which causes arguments between close family members. Then there's the distant family who appear at Christmas time who don't see eye to eye and people always seem to take sides rather than leaving those involved to sort it out between themselves. Then comes the alcohol. The arguments become more heated and violence often rears it's ugly head because, having had a drink, people will say things or do things without thinking. The drunken arguments are often then about family members or money. The solution? Don't spend what you can't afford and learn to budget throughout the year. If family members don't get along, leave them to it, it's their argument not yours. Fancy a drink to celebrate Christmas and the New Year? Fair enough, but that doesn't mean to have to consume excessive amounts and / or more than you usually would. Will anyone listen to a solution and avoid the triggers? I doubt it. Merry Christmas .
Mecky Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Money, if you haven't got it find a way to get your hands on other peoples' money ... end of thread
cressida Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 I think people should control themselves for the sake at least of any children who may be present. Also too many people present can cause extra stress for the hosts.
shanes teeth Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I only got two pigs in blankets last year and everybody knows I like three. The back stabbing bas................!
0742Sheff Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I would say stress is the main factor of any strains in any relationship at this time of year. No matter what triggers an argument or bad feeling, you can bet your bottom dollar that stress is at the root of it.
