horribleblob Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Not a plea for a missing person, but an info request for any sighting in Sheffield of candied angelica for sale. I've tried all the supermarkets and some small local shops without luck, so any clues where I might find some this week would be gratefully received.
scousemouse Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 .......................I haven't heard of that for years!!!!
horribleblob Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 My parents always had some in the kitchen cupboard when I was a lad, scousemouse, but I guess it's one of those ingredients that has lost favour. (Where is there a Harrod's Food Hall when you need one?) Anyway, as time is running out, I've decided to use stem ginger as a substitute.
mort Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 I think the place on the gallery above the markets does it and sometimes you can get it from waitrose.
horribleblob Posted December 26, 2011 Author Posted December 26, 2011 Thanks, mort, I'll pop in to the market gallery and investigate (and hopefully get some in for next year). Waitrose had none and the lad I asked about it hadn't a clue what it was.
rothschild Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I know my reply is probably a bit late but I bought a tub of Dr. Oetker angelica from one of the supermarkets. It was with all the bits and bobs of cake decorating stuff. It comes in a block which you can then slice off what you need.
