Best way to do this is to hold the budgie close to your mouth a say easy words slowly like "whos a pretty boy"

The budgie won't be able to say much, so don't expect to be able to hold a conversation with the bird about the weather for example.

Simple phrases like

Pretty boy

Hello

That kind of thing

Hi,

I had a budgie a few years back & found (by research) that some are better at talking than others. The main thing is to try simple words / phrases and keep repeating them to him every time he's out the cage on your finger.

To be honest once they start talking (if you've got a willing talker) you'll be surprised how quick they start to pick things up! You can then introduce simple phrases whilst they are sat in the cage & before you know it they'll be repeating them.

My favourite memory is when we lived in a council flat & the clerk of works came round to inspect some alterations we had been authorised to do. The guy came in & he was an elderly chap. We'd put in a kitchen & he went under the sink to inspect the bonding cable to the steel sink. We'd forgotten to ensure the door was closed on the budgie's cage & he shot out of his cage, bombed into the kitchen & landed on this guys head. I'm still not sure to this day if the guy had got a wig on but I'm sure it slipped.

Good luck with the budgie & hope you enjoy the journey!!
