dronboy Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Has anyone else received a notice of intended prosecution for 14/12/11 on A61 Chesterfield Road, Lowedges where they are certain they were below the 40mph speed limit (detected speed 46mph). Either my speedo is wrong or I am going senile as I checked the speed when I saw van 250yards away.
Rupert_Baehr Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 If you're sure you are not guilty, ask for evidence and ask for a copy of the certificate of testing for the device. What is the speed limit on that stretch of road? (If it really is a 40 mph speed limit [and they do change] then if you were nicked at 46, given the '10% + 2' possibility, it seems a bit sharp.) You might want to go back and confirm that the limit hasn't changed and that the repeaters are still in place. (If there are no repeaters, that's one indication that it is not a 40 mph limit.)
Sid Umpley Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 having done a speed awareness course recently i can tell you there is no 10% +2.
leigh-ann-25 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 do speed cameras really stop accidents, or just a way of taxing motorists.
Sid Umpley Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 they are a way of taking those of us who broke the law. (i got caught by one.) it is a voluntary tax though. i chose to speed.
Penfold70 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Most car speedos are between 4 and 6 mph on the high side anyway so if you were doin 46 your speedo would 've probably said around 50.
beansforyou Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 do speed cameras really stop accidents, or just a way of taxing motorists. Ask the op if he's going to be speeding again.
Cyclone Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 having done a speed awareness course recently i can tell you there is no 10% +2. 10%+2 are the ACPO guidelines, they aren't compulsory but most forces follow them. 46 is 10%+2 though, 45 would be safe.
Cyclone Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Ask the op if he's going to be speeding again. Ask the OP if he was speeding first.
beansforyou Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Ask the OP if he was speeding first. I don't need to, he's already stated that he maybe going senile.
