destinyblu Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 ive baught an iphone second hand off a lady who said it was unlocked ive spent the last two hours downloading i tunes and restoring the phone ( thats what it said i needed to do) having done all this i got a message on the itunes screen saying - "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported. Only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported Carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card." ive google searched and found on the vodafone website a post saying the phone maybe locked to the network it was purchased on any ideas what i can do to rectify ??

satman2222 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 It was probably jailbroken and you have restored it to the proper software and it will no longer work with other SIMs.

If you have MicroSIM (Which obviously you do because a normal SIM wont fit into an iPhone) there's no need to get a replacement SIM.

A normal sized sim will go into an iPhone 3.
