chrissyd09 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 After breaking down on Thursday night the recovery guy told me thsat my battery was running at 25% and I needed a new one, fince I thought so I toddled off to halfords and bought a brand new battery which set me back £90. Not what I wanted a week before Christmas but it was a necessity. Unfortunately I haven't got the key code for the radio which kicked in when the battery was disconnected. I went to Vauxhall to get this and I was told it would cost me a further £24 to get this, £24 to get a number off a database what a rip off and for my own radio code. This is day light robbery and I would rather buy a new radio at a much higher cost simply out of principle. I would prefer not to do this and would appreciate it if anyone knew of how I could retrieve this code for a nominal fee. Merry christmas Sheffielders.
fairyworld14 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Have you not got the radio code number in the info you got when you bought the radio ?
chrissyd09 Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 I bought it second hand and seem to have everything including all the service history but cannot find the car pass or any info.
imroberts Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Have a look on eBay and you will find quite a few people or companies who can provide radio codes for a pound or two. I can't recommend one specifically but I successfully got the radio code for my Ford radio this way.
cheekychains Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 what year is your car? i might have a program to do it for free(well it is xmas)
mrth Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 did halfords fit the bat? they did mine, they use a backup device that saves all your cars data. when I tested the car the radio didn't work but after he plugged this device back into the fag lighter all my presets came back. it even remembers the place I was at on my CD. I was amazed.
0widdy0 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 check on the stereo housing as sometimes you will find your code on there
andyrad29 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 90 quid for a battery?? They saw you coming didn't they?
sheff_saying Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Try putting the details in here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=26827&highlight=radio+codes You will need the serial number off the radio.
chrissyd09 Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 Thanks everyone, a friend fitted the battery for me so dont think halfords could help. Thanks CheekyChains, it is a 2003 model Vectra SRI, it would be very appreciated if you could help. I had to travel to the in laws over the weekend and the small talk was unbearable ha ha.
