Grandad.Malky   11 #62 Posted December 19, 2011 Townie Bliar, the man who's actions coined the phrase, Champagne Socialist. Our Townie, a man of the people, well multi-millionaires any how. How can Cameroon be lampooned for having brass by the LIEbour acolytes, God must know, doubtful if any one else does.  Angel.  Could we have that again in English?  Malky
 Share this content via...
gnvqsos   10 #63 Posted December 19, 2011 By professional politician I don't mean he's any good at it, I mean he has never had a proper job outside politics. He's one of those PPE degree deadheads full of idealistic nonsense but no life experience, no useful skills and no common sense. The only way Balls is going to make a useful leader is to change his name and get a brain transplant.  Michael Foot may have been pilloried for his sartorial inelegance but he was also an out of touch nuclear disarmament proponent.  I think Foot may have been out of touch with the reactionaries but in touch with the intelligentia who think through policies.Even Powell advocated a unilateral approach, which made sense given an impending nuclear winter.I seem recall Cameron had a proper job supporting Norman Lamont inthe 1990s;that was a Herculean task given the run on £.Needless to say he failed that test.Ted Heath was a band-leader and amateur mariner.home an aristicrat. The only PMs will real jobs have been MacMillan who ran a charity,Wilson who designed rainwear and Callaghan who was a farmer and draughtsman. Finally Major had a job lifting the spirits of unfufilled women, and was an unpaid gigolo for members of the back-bench. Says it all really.  And that's another problem for Millibrain and Labour at the moment. Their MPs are seen as professional politicians living in the Westminster bubble with no experience of the lives we all lead. Stoatwobbler   10 #66 Posted December 19, 2011 (edited) You'd be better off asking a Labour activist if they genuinely rate Ed Miliband and think he's under pressure as leader.  The thing is, as much as I personally consider Ed Miliband to be little more then an empty suit, who else is there who could be a strong Labour leader? The rest of them are all careerist empty suits as well. Edited December 19, 2011 by Stoatwobbler .
 Share this content via...

Jim Graham   10 #69 Posted December 20, 2011 Oh, he's a leader! I thought he was some kind of mascot, like those cuddly toys wagon drivers tie-wrap to the radiator grills of their cabs.    Labour thought Gordon "best man for the job" Brown was a leader. Look where he led us!!  Perhaps we should just leave Labour supporters to grieve in peace. People overcome with such all consuming grief rarely make good decisions. LeMaquis   10 #72 Posted December 20, 2011 Hang on, wasn't it "The Sun Wot Won It" for the Tories?  And aren't they trying to dig themselves out of a big, dark hole over phone tapping?  No wonder they are sucking up to the Government.  The Sun supports whoever is in government or whoever looks likely to win the next election. Sucking up to the government now isn't going to save them from the phone-hacking scandal. The Sun Wot Won It headline was from 1992 so it's not relevant anymore.  On Radio 4 this morning there was a speech in the Commons by Labour MP Frank Dobson calling for overseas nationals convicted in this country of any crime to be deported instead of going to prison. The Tory MP replying for the government had to point out to him that his idea would mean murderers not going to prison but instead being allowed to go free abroad. The Tories do have their fair share of idiots but the fact that a senior Labour MP can call for convicted killers, rapists, paedophiles, drug dealers, etc, to walk free tells me the Labour Party has very few people with any intelligence.
