medusa Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I've currently got a kitten who was trapped on a building site in Leeds, after his mother was killed accidentally on the building site. He's come to me to learn how to be a good house cat from my friendly lot and he's a very beautiful and cute little boy, who is learning quickly and rewarded me with my first proper purr when being cuddled this morning. Sale Amount free to appropriate, home checked home with other friendly cat(s) for company Reason for Rehome / Sale kitten born in desperate circumstances and needing forever home Time Scale – How Urgent? probably ready mid-January, but will be safe here until the right home is found Has the Cat ever been in Rescue he's being fostered with me as an informal rescue Location Hillsborough S6 Age & Sex Male, currently 14-16 weeks Vaccinated & Wormed neither at present, will hopefully get him wormed soon Neutered & Micro chipped neither Breed/ Mix officially a semi-feral moggy, but if you didn't know that you'd swear he was a British Shorthair Colour/markings black with beautiful white ear tufts and yellow amber eyes Long/Shorthaired shorthair Live in / Or in and out in at present- may be able to go out, but with all feral cats this needs to be done carefully Used to a cat flap no Ever lived with other cats/dogs/other animals currently living with my friendly colony but not friendly to the dog yet Any Current or Historical Health or Psychological Issues none known, although as a feral does need someone who understands his needs Temperament nervous and skittish, but not hissing, spitting or scratching, so should come round to be a sweet (if shy) house cat soon OK with Dogs / Cats fine with my other cats- still scared of the dog Can the Cat be picked up and put in a basket without risk of scratching very unusually for a feral kitten- yes Can the Cat be groomed without risk of scratching again, yes Good or Bad with Children not known at present- pretty scared of everybody Dislike of Men or Women scared of everyone but will allow you to approach carefully and slowly for a stroke Housetrained yes- no accidents yet Any further General Information you can share. This little lad is with me to bring him on in his friendliness and calmness around humans. I've hand reared and brought on loads of feral cats and kittens and he's one of the calmest I've ever had, including allowing us to walk up to him when he's in bed and stroke him without any sort of hissing or growling and this morning he rewarded me with a purr and leaning in to my hand when I was giving him a little fuss (which is fabulous!) so I hope that he will grow into a happy, if shy, house cat who has a lovely happy life with trusted humans. I believe that for his emotional health he will need to be placed somewhere that he will have access to other cat-friendly cats to learn from and for support, games and mutual grooming, which are all good for the kitty pussynality. If you're interested in coming to meet him please let me know by email- my PM box is closed to incoming messages. My email address is medusa@s-f.co.uk Any potential homes will be home checked.
medusa Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Rather than posting a new thread after a month I thought it would be OK to just move this one up instead. Al is now being a lot friendlier and whilst he's still scared of being touched when he's up and around, he's continued to allow us to fuss him when he's in his bed and now takes treats from our hands and comes to his name. He's deeply in love with our other foster kitten Freya, and swishes his tail for her to chase very diligently for her. I also keep catching him spooning in bed with one of my other cats and he's happy as a pig in muck to be wrapped up in Isaac's paws for a sleep Unfortunately all of my attempts to sneak up on him and catch a photo of him in bed with Isaac have failed after he woke up and got spooked by the camera, but here he is, with his customary look of slight concern, whilst up and about: http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c54/mewsletter/?action=view¤t=Al216112.jpg If you think that you can offer Al a space to continue learning how to be a house cat and to gain more confidence with humans, please let me know by email. Thank you.
