Twoflags Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Hi I was wondering if anyone could help. I need to re-site my router but can only do it via an extension cable. I think I know the way it should be done just after a yay or nay. I'll be using the cable for my sky as the extension as it it has a socket which will allow me to leave the landline in its' current position. So... 1. Sky extension in to master socket (no filter from socket), the socket on the back of the sky plug, filter into that, phone into filter. 2 at the other end of the sky extension (where the sky box plugs in) filter, sky box into filter and router into adsl side Is this correct? Many thanks
Greengeek Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Extension cables and broadband are the work of the devil. Why do you need to move it?
spider1 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 :huh:hi we have sky B B router should be plugged in main socket it does not matter how far from lap top it is ours is 2 rooms away avoid extention cables if you can Wireless routers can be a bit of a headache to start with
walkerx Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 if you've got sky tv you don't need to connect it up to your telephone line unless you've got multi-view
spider1 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 if you've got sky tv you don't need to connect it up to your telephone line unless you've got multi-view :confused:Hi dont see how you can get wireless broadband without a phone line connection
Twoflags Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 Extension cables and broadband are the work of the devil. Why do you need to move it? the wireless on it is playing silly buggers all the time, the signal fluctuates from 100-60%. I want to hook it up wired to the ps3, xbox and Sky HD. How can an extension make it iffy? Surely as far as the router is concerned it's plugged into the master socket
spider1 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 :confused:leave sky as it was before plugged straight in to socket Wireless router goes in to a seperate telephone socket on its own with filter Things like xbox live also have to plug in to theire own telephone socket
spider1 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 :confused:leave sky as it was before plugged straight in to socket Wireless router goes in to a seperate telephone socket on its own with filter Things like xbox live also have to plug in to theire own telephone socket in short they all have theire own seperate sockets do not join any up to sky box the only thing that needs a filter is router
Twoflags Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 no xbox, ps3 and sky hd all connect to router via ethernet
