lyndyloo Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 A couple of years ago we took our grandchildren round Rotherham some of the houses were brilliant. We loved hearing all the ooos and aaars. There was a lovelly little area that has a small park with a lit up nativity and lights in all the trees.I can't remember the place (In rotherham)will ask hubby and let you know.
Nagel Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Go and look at Abbeydale Park Rise off Abbeydale Road in Totley. The residents put on a great display every year and cover the trees outside their houses in fairy lights Here's a photo I took a few years ago. It gives you an impression, but in reality it's far more magical. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a283/Alastairw/IMG_5594.jpg

top4718 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 If you have a drive round any rough estates you are bound to see plenty, might be best to keep the car moving though.
lucylac Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 We used to go to Clowne. All of the houses on a crescent used to put on a great display of lights and all donations were given to charities in the area. The kids loved it, although we sometimes had trouble parking up. Dont know the name of the road, just that it was near a big church. Might pay another visit this week to see!

It's really good when communities work together to create something nice.

You mean Northfields, it used to be really good until the druggies thought they could make a quick bit of cash from stealing the lights. I live the next village on from there.
lucylac Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Oh what a shame about northfields. The kids used to love going. Their eyes uesd to light up at the beautiful displays. You cant have nothing now, someone always spoils it. :(
