nicholls5 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 For those of you who follow the Rain Rescue blog you may have already read this but this blog is the same for so many small rescues - all with heartbreaking stories - All scrimping to find the next penny - I just had to share ---------------- I haven’t been writing on our blog much lately because there is just so much to do - by the time I have time to update the blog, I’m too tired to type. I can’t get my head around how many wicked and horrible people there are in this world and the pain and suffering the animals have to go through to be able to live in it with us. The money just simply isn’t coming in for us to be able to pay the vet bills and running costs that we have. In the morning’s post I opened a donation from Pedigree Adoption Drive where they gave us £100 - the other 2 envelopes were a vet bill for £650 and £425. I could have sat and cried because we had so many dogs and cats needing us, so many people phoning and emailing us wanting help with their pets - and yet we simply can’t manage to raise the funds to keep us going. Its very sad and very depressing. We had a call yesterday from a pound to see if we would take in a bitch that had had to have a Caesarian and her puppies taken away. This poor little girl had gone through hell - was so scared - the pound desperately wanted to save her http://www.rainrescue.co.uk/Rain_Rescue/South_Yorkshire_pet_rescue.html , they were full of staffy’s and staffy crosses but would we help just one more. In our kennels we have 5 staffy types, 1 rottie, 1 akita, 1 dogue de bordeaux, 1 english bull terrier and 1 jack russell cross - not easy dogs - but all lovely dogs and all deserve a chance at living. Yes of course we would come and help her. Julie and Dave drove over to collect this poor scared little girl - who trembled and shook. Tonight, she has a coat on and is at least safe and warm. If we can’t carry on - who will be there to help dogs like Maisie tomorrow? So few dog rescues will go into the dog pounds, because its heartbreaking to see the rest left behind that they can’t take. We do so we help some, but sadly its never enough http://www.rainrescue.co.uk -------------------- So many pound dogs are going to die this week because they are so full of abandoned dogs. If they do have a space - how do they pick knowing the ones they leave behind will have a very different future - I just know this is something I couldn't do, but if they dont then none will be saved. Its not the pounds fault - they are not the ones that abandon these animals - Its just so heartbreaking. http://www.rainrescue.co.uk/Rain_Rescue/Animal_Welfare_Diary/Animal_Welfare_Diary.html

Moonbird Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Poor little Maizie why did she have to have her puppies taken away? its a very bad time for rescues at the moment, there is just no money about for any of us
Labadore Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I know it's not much in some respects but it's a start. I have just donated £50 direct to Rain Rescue. I will PM later either yourself Moonbird or Rain regarding labwelfare and my fundraising efforts. keep up the good work x x
NewBiz Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I made a donation to Rain yesterday as well. What I had thought of, though probably a bit late now, was starting a thread asking people to donate to an animal charity instead of buying their pets gifts this Xmas. What do you think, is it worth trying?
Labadore Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 It's a thought but probably too late for this year, but certainly next year. In the meantime people may consider signing onto easyfundraising which costs you nothing and your searches on the internet raise money for a selected cause, I have now directed mine to Rain Rescue
NewBiz Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I'll have a look at that easyfundraising idea. Thanks
NewBiz Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Just registered. Piece of cake. Anyone interested it's http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk and Rain are on there.
Labadore Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Excellent, try and remember to easysearch rather than using other search engines.
NewBiz Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 There is only a donation made when I buy something isn't there, not just if I'm searching for something? So if I want to browse for something and find it say through Google, then go to the easyfundraising site to actually buy it, the donation is made. Is that right? Please let me know if I've not understood clearly. Many thanks
