Shaun F Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Can anyone advise an insurance company that will insure us - we're having an investigation done for thermal movement, all insurance companies say is it's subsidence and no- one will insure us or if they will want to charge the earth. My policy cost has increased by more than 200%. really appreciate any help
Jeffrey Shaw Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Contact a good insurance broker- no, not just an online price comparison site.
selphie Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 From my days of selling household insurance you will ALWAYS have to declare if you have subsidence, therefore pushing up the price of your premium. Most companies will insure you but you won't be covered for subsidence. If you want the subsidence cover then you will have to go to a specialist insurer but you're going to be paying through the nose. The excess on subsidence is also usually higher than for any other claim. Hope that helps.
