smithy266 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 have you tried buying the fish from another supplier?
laura2201 Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 yeah 2 have been from same place and others from different stores. the last time we she went she went through everything with the guy at pets at home and he said there is no reason they wont live. But they dont we cant think of any reason why they dont
smithy266 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 any chance of traces of cleaning chemicals being left in the tank before filling?
laura2201 Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 i guess its a possibilty for the latest ones but not for the first. what should you clean them out with?
smithy266 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I think we used to use just a scouring pad. We had snails who kept the glass clean!
laura2201 Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 im sure she only used hot water tbh and a cloth
WallBuilder Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 You're not over feeding them are you? An overfed goldfish will appear to be dead, lying motionless and floating on their side but left to their own devices they come around of their own accord, just a thought and my info comes off an old episode of QI
laura2201 Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 she thought she might have over fed the first one but when she got the others she was really careful the pet shop told her to remove any left over food after 5 minutes and only do a tiny bit which she did. they were not alive long enough to starve either its a bit of a mystery
Mr Gobby Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I bought two from a pet shop in Firth Park about ten years ago, their both going strong and show no signs of doing the backstroke
