Job Agencies in Sheffield

Recommended Posts

Have you tried sheffieldjobstoday

I've always used online agencies.

Another I have used in the past is Jobserve

You can set up pre-defined job criterea and they will email you opportunities, if any available, on a regular basis.

Used to be a contract worker, and found this site invaluable.

Not sure how many agencies they have on their books, but it's certainly quite a few. Far better than popping into different agencies. And far more efficient.

You can save your CV online, and it will be auto-posted to any agency that meets your requirements.

That's the million dollar question.

The only real solution is to try them all.

If ypu have a specific skill, then try those agencies that specialise in that.

The easiest way is to submit your CV onto one of the online marketeers as they might cover many agencies.

The one I used to use was Jobserve, however that's just an example - not necessary a recommendation.

Have you a specific skill or are you just looking for any job that you feel comfortable in doing?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, try Sheffieldjobstoday.

That does cover a wider area, and just not Sheffield.

I run a HGV driving agency and basically you ring up state what kind of work you are looking for bring your licence and some forms of identity I check it with DVLA and DWP and that's it really, I try to fit the drivers in were they are best suited to work my problem is I can not get enough drivers for the work I get offered, when it comes to recruitment I find the job centres staff are useless they are absolute idiots, most of my drivers prefer to work for agency's as it gives them a bit of freedom to work when they want, they usually get more money than the regular workers, register with a few different agency's tell them what kind of work you are looking for, some of them specialize in certain kind of employment NHS and that kind of thing, a bit of advise is dont turn any work down when they offer as you will go down the list of people who they call first, if you get a good name with the agency as being reliable they will give you the better work. http://WWW.alphagroup-driver-agency.co.uk

Shogun

Are you just an HGV agency or do you cover any driving jobs as some members may be put off when you state HGV.

It's no offence to you however I do know some agencies frreqently have jobs come though which are not appertainig to their agengy.

Some of your HGV clients may have other, non HGV, vacancies that they wish to fill.

On the other hand, I have experienced that some agenclies do not even bother to read your CV.

They may scan, interactively, through your CV and pick up some keywords which do not necessarily reflect your skills.

EG. You may have been an assistant, or something else, for an HGV company, and someone scanning your CV will find HGV and assume that you are an HGV driver.

I can only tell you what happens in my line of work but first of all I only deal with HGV haulage company's I get the odd FLT request but not very often, I know its not nice when someone has put a lot of effort into a CV but personally I don't usually bother with CVs as I can tell strait away when they ring up asking for work, if the driver has the right licence and experience that is what matters, I get a lot of newly passed drivers ringing me up but the company's are very reluctant to give them work as it is so easy to damage there trucks costing pounds to fix and they never ring me back again when that happens.

Unfortunately, and not just in your line, it's a catch 22 situation.

I'm a brilliant driver ( ha ha ha) but I don't have HGV experience (and I'm not looking).

Employers only want people who have experience, however, if you don't have that experience then how do you get it?

Its very hard for new drivers to get in, I've tried hard to get new drivers work before but the firms don't seem to want want to know new drivers, that's why I don't take any notice of CVs they can say any thing on them,I can ask them four questions on the phone and I can tell strait away if they are experienced drivers or not without reading a CV, I never refuse to register new drivers but I tell them the facts first.

Avoid Agencies full stop i'd say the ones i have come across don't give a monkeys about your personally all they care about is the money.

What daft statement what do you think they are all about then if its not money, that's what you work for money is it not.
