susa41981 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Since last night my ipad will not charge when either plugged into the plug socket or into the pc. It dosent recognise that its plugged into anything at all. It dosent say 'not charging' just nothing happens at all. Had it over a year but would the tech guys in the apple store still look at it do you think? I've tried different charges and cables so must be something with the unit. Tried a hard reset as well and still nothing. Any help or ideas would be great.
VideoPro Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Make an appointment here: http://concierge.apple.com/geniusbar/R153 and let the Apple techs at Meadowhall take a look.

Guest sibon Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 For an item like an Ipad, you'd have a good reason to claim that it should work for more than a year, regardless of the warranty. If they try to charge you to fix it, push them. Tell them that the sale of goods act offers you protection and that you can reasonably expect an item of such cost to last for a couple of years at least. I'd be pressing them to repair it for free. In fairness to Apple, I have several of their products and I've always found their aftersales service to be excellent, so be gentle:)
VideoPro Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Sibon, Apple Store policy is "Always find a solution that makes the customer happy". As a rule, they stick to it. If the answer offered on the Genius Bar is still hard to swallow, ask to speak to a manager and remind them of EEC Directive 1999/44. This is essentially a second year of warranty where the burden of responsibility changes to the seller after the manufacturer's standard one year warranty has expired. If as the OP says, they are just a few months over the one year warranty and the problem isn't obviously caused by them, there will be no charge for repair or replacement.
