hockeybear Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Ok I think we have enough interest now in a night meet, Nickscape has kindly offered to help out with answering questions and so between all of us who have done some night work before we can be sure of everybody of any level going home with some good photos. So... Date and time? Taking on board what Knighthawk pointed out about town at night not being safe I'm thinking why don't we start the meet early, say 6pm? Any day is good for me but I'd say avoid Thu, Fri, Sat cos those are the pubs busiest days Right, who's in and what time/ date would suit best?
Bruno Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I'd like to come along on one of these and learn, Mon and or Tues good for me
snakeheadblu Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 If you can make it a tuesday id be in but im a total novice so would be seeking advice from you guys... alan..
hockeybear Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Tue is ok by me but how about Wed? its late night shopping so more people about making it safer for us. not sure on the weather forecast but if we get some dry days lets get out there. snakeheadblu all you need is a tripod and maybe a cable release and you will get some good pics
DaFoot Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I'll come along if it ends up on an evening I can do, though stupid busy at the mo so can't guarantee it. I have a few things I'd really like to try out with some 'willing' volunteers
Nickscape Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Monday or Tuesday would be best for me also so that looks like a popular day. The time depends on what you want to shoot really, to make the best of city photos its normally best to shoot shortly after sunset when there is still light in the sky, this is when the mix of natural and artificial light is at its best. If it gets too dark the the dark sky will either be plain black or turn orange from the street lights (depending on cloud cover) which can be tricky to manage. So at this time of year that means being out around 5pm, not ideal for people working office hours? Tripod is a must, cable release also if you have one but you can just use the 10second timer on the camera to do the same thing.
