some guy Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I'm looking into doing an Apprenticeship and somebody told me about Internships. So I've been looking online and I've found they seem to be the same thing. Is there any major difference between them?

VideoPro Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 An apprenticeship means you get paid whilst learning a trade and receive certification at the end of it. Most internships are unpaid or for very low pay. They are for a fixed period of 6 months, sometimes 12. There are no qualifications or certificates and a very good chance you will simply be let go at the end of it. Employers that use this system just get new interns. You might get a letter of recommendation out of it, to help in your search for real work.
Riannon Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 An apprenticeship is where you learn to sail. An internship is where you learn to sail online.
