ChrisT70 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 anyone have a POI file for satnav or other info that gives any decent UK wild camping locations for motorhomes? sort of spots where you can get a night or two without hassle or cost etc? cheers
john t Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Try http://www.wild camping.co.uk. its a great site for what your looking for. jt
Bikertec Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 You have to join to get it from them which costs. Just keep your eyes open theres plenty of places if you just look, look for lorries parked up is a good one. We have been doing it for over 4 years and never had a problem, police tend to turn a blind eye never been moved on once.

Bikertec Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Before when they were free I marked a lot down in Norfolk only to find the said no camping or over night camping so not sure about getting them. We have been stopped by police only 3 times 1st was parking outside a closed down factory they had a quick look inside and bid us good night and left us alone. Near sellerfield had my particulars taken down in case I was a terrorist but left us alone. And the other time was on the Wirral when the cops told us to keep our valuables out of site but told us we could stop a long as we want. I tend to tell them Im too late to find a camp site but will be gone in the morning. Some places to watch for though is dogging areas and prostitute areas which can be very embarrassing.

But if you do it also gives you loads of other information that you may need, all in all a very usefull site.! jt
Bikertec Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I agree it is a very good site and I have used it and added to it in the past. Well worth joining it free, but its not worth signing up for me personally.
md00071 Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Don't try it anywhere near Easington Gas Terminal near Spurn Point. You can't even park up to take a call on your mobile without armed MoD police turning up. With a campervan, mortars and RPGs would probably be deployed.
