sportsvoice Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I just noticed on Sky Sports that Real Madrid had tabled a £20m bid to spurs for the services of Sheffield United graduate Kyle Walker. Ok maybe the story isn't currently Sheffield United related however it shows how good the youth structure is within the club to see a young lad who only left a couple of years ago already playing for not only his country but now being tracked by one of the worlds most superior clubs. I don't spose you Blades have any sell on clauses now do you?
F. Sidebottom Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Just goes to show what a good manager Harry Redknapp is - taking a raw recruit and polishing him into a finished article. Well done Harry.

The talent has to be spotted and nurtured in the first place, I haven't noticed Harry or anyone else lately getting the duraglit out to polish any wednesday academy products. Another great product of the United youth policy.

I don't spose you Blades have any sell on clauses now do you? The best thing we will get is a postcard from Real Madrid just saying "Thanks suckers". We have had a few smart deals in recent years where a sell on clause has slipped the minds of a few in charge at BDTBL.
TAT Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Old Harry could not polish the more expensive Naughton. As for Uniteds academy, outside the Premiership perhaps only Southamptons can better it, with a close third being Forests. The production line continues thanks to successful leaders..Slade. Reid and now Pembo. The facilitys down Shirecliffe are superb, located near our neighbours lol, on a clear day you can see the Owls "tent". Lets how we have sell on clauses in our dealings..but history with Robinson and other chief execs would put a major doubt on such a clause. Walker is a Sheffield lad, one we should all be proud of, a local boy wearing his countrys colours. MADE IN SHEFFIELD .
Robbie Loving Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 £20 million? Madness, but they'd need to bid big to get him. Good luck to the lad if he can get snapped up by them. I personally think he'd be daft to go to them at this juncture.... Just goes to show what a good manager Harry Redknapp is - taking a raw recruit and polishing him into a finished article. Well done Harry. Most of the credit, for me, would go to Sheffield United. Especially when you consider since he has been a Spurs player, he has played more elsewhere than he has there. So hardly Harry 'polishing' him into the finished article. Spurs got a bargain, you could tell he was due to go on to big things. But the main contribution is Kyle's attitude.

All playing lower league football, rater Walker highly but if he'd stopped with United he would not be playing for his country.

Just as a matter of interest this outstanding facility that one can only marvel at has produced how many other outstanding talents in world football ? You got lucky with the two Kyles dont kid yourselves otherwise .. If Shirecliffe was as outstanding as you guys reckon you wouldnt be playing 3rd tier football
