BarryRiley Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Has anyone else had to endure a ten minute wait while they 60-point turn a truck to be able to squeeze down the alley at the side of Asda Middlewood? Last night they had staff out in the street and the truck across the whole of Catchbar Lane and Middlewood Road (stopping traffic and the tram) while they navigated it through. Asda have bought the building knowing that it cannot accommodate such a vehicle and seem happy to inconvenience anyone passing through the area while they restock. The route is also used ambulances heading from the station to the centre which is bound to cause a problem eventually. Highly irritating.
spooferman Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 its fine by me if they block the tram and buses !!

BarryRiley Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 Not just trams and buses though - everything trying to get through Middlewood
Olive Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Getting up Catchbar Lane towards Middlewood Road is a pain, and it only takes one car turning right into Asda car park to hold things up no end. Is anyone else puzzled by the lights sequencing along Middlewood Road? It takes longer than it should to go from the Park side to Middlewood side and vice versa - when the lights are green for traffic going one way, you'd think they'd be green for you going the other way, but they stay at red for seemingly no reason.

I've pondered this many a time. Unless someone is planning on safely ram-raiding Bargain Booze then there is no reason at all why one side of the road should be able to travel while the other ones wait at a red light
