Speed Demon Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Have just seen the UK Championships on television, that instead of just having a wall separating the 2 tables that usually totally blocks the arena into 2 rooms, there is still a wall but now it is just half a wall like a fence and you can see both tables completely open planned How long as this been like this, I wonder if they will implement this style at the World Championships.
SpeedwayDan Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Not a fan tbh. Ok it's better value for the spectators but what's going to happen if somebody gets carried away and starts clapping something on the other table ?
muckymurphy Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Not a fan tbh. Ok it's better value for the spectators but what's going to happen if somebody gets carried away and starts clapping something on the other table ? no reason why the pros cant play in a noisy environment. also stops the racket when one game ends and everyone gets up to go. i like the idea but it can upset the player when his fans are watching the other game! also, the fans can return at a different time after a mid session interval which is annoying to the players already back playing on the other table.
sportsvoice Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I don't think the younger modern pro's are overly bothered about the new layout and are more than happy to just get on with playing snooker, it's the older generation eg commentators virgo, taylor etc who don't really approve of it. Personally I think the Crucible would be silly to adapt this format as the current conditions at the crucible are really what seperate it from anywhere else, players old and young spak of the place and it's atmosphere as the best in the game.
