Had to go on benefits

Good luck finding something. Seems like you have a positive attitude, so I imagine you won't be out of work for long.

Self employment is a lovely idea but quite difficult in practice. Not impossible though. If you're good at baking (wish I was), why not take a cake stall to local fairs, carboot sales, and so on? That sort of thing can be surprisingly lucrative. You could also supply local health food stores etc., there is a demand for home made food.

That is a definite non starter with the food regulations.

He would end up serving porridge to people who wernt interested in the benefits of self employment. :D

Are you saying every burger van in the country is illegal ? I'm not sure that's entirely accurate. I know a couple of caterers who quite legally set up from home PROVIDING the kitchen was of a certain standard ( don't know what that is though).

And anyone remember 90s tv show 2.4 children ? She ran a catering company from home. :D

No, but they have to work from a premises, as do ice cream vans etc.

I'm fairly sure they dont, but if you can show me otherwise I'd bow to your superior knowledge. I'd look my self but it's christmas eve and not the time to be digging through food standards agency rules and regs.

Merry Xmas !

You might aswell use the public services before they are gone. And if your on a means tested benefit they will be free!

Opticians, dentist, stop smoking services (swap the NRT with an old dear/office worker for some ciggies).

Visit a museum, visit the library. Go walking in the peaks. Sit down and watch the world go buy/by. Put your name down on the waiting list, might take 30 years, but it could take 32 if you leave it till next year!

Get down the allotment.

Right bundle of laughs you are.

The council might sell off the allotment land soon :hihi::hihi:
