There are plenty of ways of being self employed without needing to invest in equipment and stock. You should avoid running for office if you can't work that out.

Plenty?? Name some.

If it was easy everyone would be doing it - even bozos.

Good things are rarely easy.

You did as though it was the easiest and best option. It's not easy being self employed. The majority of my income is through self employment these days. It's not easy and its not cheap to start up.

There is also the risk of failure and for some people, that risk is too big.

No he did not. All he did was to point out that it exists as an option; that claiming benefits is not compulsory.

Actualy ill be interested to see this myself.

I can only think of a couple that would require only a small investment. By little I'm talking about several hundred to a thousand pounds.

Self employed get a life and stop scrounging adviser.

I charge £100 an hour, MrMoran was my first client and owes me £30 for the advice given.:D

And before you say I will need to buy a computer I already had one.

All I'm saying is that for many people it's not an option. You need money, financial skills, vast knowledge in your chosen area of work and a lot of self confidence.

And as pointed out above, all of those obstacles can be overcome if someone cares to try.

OK, that's one! I'm looking for plenty.

So, you've just lost your job, you have no savings, you have rent/mortgage to pay. Where do you find the money to set up a business. Oh, and you have no expert knowledge in a particularly field.

Where do you start?
