Emilia24 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Can anyone assist me an alteration to an LED lighting strip which I've purchased? The strip needs to be extended in places by about a meter, I have bought a kit to do it but for some reason it doesnt work. Any advise or assistance would be most appreciated. carrie

Emilia24 Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 The LED strip is a 5m strip with LEDS placed about 15mm apart. You are able to cut the strip to length at points situated along the strip. Then you can reconnect the strips with joining connectors but I seem to get all the light on but the colours are different on each strips.
Hippogriff Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Is it an RGB LED strip or do you have two pieces of different single colour strips, i.e. one is a red strip and one is a blue strip? You will be able to tell if it is RGB by the fact of whether it has 4 connectors, as opposed to 2. 4 will be red, green, blue and power. 2 will be single colour and power. If you want to physically connect strips together and not use plastic connectors, you'd be best using wire and a soldering iron, but I am guessing (from your post) that that may not be what you're really interested in getting into.
