not really, closer cooperation between the eurozone countries was always on the cards and once the current crisis is passed will be a necessity.

for non-eurozone related matters then we (as a country) have had every opportunity to be the central driver, we still could be but our leaders chose not to be

France and Germany have always run the EU. What's new? In any case the article is about stability in the eurozone. It says;

"(Sarkozy) said the euro could not continue to exist unless eurozone economies pulled together."

As the UK is not in the eurozone then it's nothing to do with Cameron and Clegg anyway.

Unless we are going to join the Euro, which would be like jumping on the Titanic after it had hit the iceberg, then obviously we are not going to be majorly involved in Eurozone decision making.

There will be a two speed europe, we need to focus on what our side is going to look like and not try to dictate to the eurozone how their hellish mess is going to end up.

Not a surprise. Now we can see what we only thought before- that the EU's plan is an undemocratic superstate.

Let UK leave, asap!

We should never have joined.

We as a people have been the losers.

The only winners have been the capitalists, with their ability to transfer cheap labour, as we have seen in recent years.

The Common market is a disgrace.

Why should any British politician be ashamed when France and Germany decide to form closer ties?

I bet you weren't saying that a few years back when France and Germany ganged up to revoke the UK's European funds rebate.
