Hi

I had a pay day loan with a company ages ago that I thought id paid off, however it was passed to a debt collection company who got in touch with me yesterday.

They were very nasty on the phone and demanded I paid £231.00 there and then or they would come to my house with a locksmith (the house is not mine its my parents and its bought)

I was so scared I gave him my card details and said I would try and pay today, they have called me today and said the same 'well cant you just sell something in your house' I said look I will pay it I jus cant afford i all at once, he said well ill have to come to your house then!

Can they do this i am scared of going home.

Any help will be appreciated.

report them to trading standards and the OFT, they will have their licence as debt collectors revoked, thats shocking!!!, trust me, if they show up at the door being agressive, just call the police and they will be arrested!!

If it's not your house, they can't take any goods that aren't yours. I would report them if they start giving you no options. Payment plans should be available.

First they have to prove you owe them money. That is their burden. If you don't pay - and there's no reason you should without evidence you have a debt - then their legal channel is to take you to court. They cannot break in. It sounds like it was an empty threat that you fell for.

I have to say you were stupid to give them your card details. They bluffed you and you fell for it. You should IMMEDIATELY contact your card company and stop any unauthorised payments. If you're going to let them take money from your account without any evidence you owe them anything you might as well have your salary paid direct to them.

Sorry to sound harsh but you need to toughen up. Goons like these will walk all over you if you let them and you have let them. Contact your card company. Stop all transactions. If the goons ring back ask for evidence and tell them you will see them in court. Stand up to them.

No don't listen to them don't be frightened by them they have no laws of entry to your property at all they just prey on soft and vulnerable people do not under any circumstances give your card details to them over the phone, you should contact the people who you got the load of in the first place and pay them they will probably tell you that you have to deal with the dept collectors, don't give your details to them when they first ring if you don't give them the details first then they can not proceed with the call and they usually hang up' some of these dept collectors can be very persistent pests just do not be intimated by them at all the only time any one can come int your house is if you have been taken to court and judgement has been entered against and only a court certified bailiff can try and get into your property to put a levy on your goods,

I would seriously take this advice. Registered debt collectors can-not demand full payment neither can they enter your home without a court warrant. You gave given these potential fraudsters your card details they can now take what they want, when they want from your account. Get in contact with your bank now & get this card cancelled before it's too late
