yk21038 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Hello All We are looking for a place to buy a house in Sheffield. We're renting a place at the moment, my husband is working at the centre and we have a 11months beautiful daughter..^^ It's been only 1 and half year for us living in Sheffield. We don't know the area very well...Could anyone suggest any place where safe and a little bit convenient to live? Oh, also not far from the centre.. I know S6, S10, S11, S17 is good to live..but we can't really afford S10, S11 area..so we'll go for S6 or S17..How about S8 area? Is it good place to live? I'll be pleased if you could give me some opinions.. Thank you..
Dave_H Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Some reasonable value properties around Gleadless Townend, S12. Plenty of facillities close at hand, schools, doctors, dentist, basic shops, and the tram to go into town or Crystal Peaks.
Mr Tibbs Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 S6 (Hillsborough) is good but usually on a hill and can be difficult to park. More towards Middlewood can be a bit flatter but then its either a 1-2 tram stop to Hillsborough or a nice flat walk once you are on Middlewood Road. S8 Heely to Woodseats is nice but not on the tram route. You will pay a bit for a terrace in these 2 area's but you will also sell in what is an area what is always in demand.
tinkerbell Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 S8 is a good area, lovely big park on your doorstep (Meersbrook park) with a great toddler group on every day in the park pavillion. Not too far from town either, and with a good range of shops and schools. Definitely get more property for your money than in S10/S11 but (IMHO) just as nice a place to live.
princess1980 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I lived at s8 for 30 yrs and it was fine. im now at s20 and i have to say i wished id of moved years ago. i love beighton.
stressconsul Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Walkley and Meersbrook both good places to live.

I went to have a look a property in Gleadless and the area looked absolutely hopeless...The cars parked was locked on handle so that nobody can steal it...
