bigsexydoug Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 just sold my map tks 625, good pole but just not "me" if you know what i mean ?? looking at poles , got around £600 to spend, any tips ??? buy now or wait til next year ??? anyone held a diawa sr3 or sr4 ?? as they seem around the price and diawa have certainly produced some great poles these last few years . i tend to hit more lumps than an average angler so strength is a must.
charliewag Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 the daiwa sr series and the map tks poles are exactly the same poles, made on the same mandrels in the same chinese factory so you would be buying the same pole as you've just sold. the more expensive daiwa poles such as the g20 are made in the u.k and are a lot better piece of kit.
bigsexydoug Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 wow are they really, didnt know that at all charliewag, thank you
animal2477 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 wow are they really, didnt know that at all charliewag, thank you yep charlie's right mate, exactly the same pole, you'll get a 2nd hand g20 between 600-700 and truly worthit even if you get a brand new one,had my g8 6 years and still good,i would only replace it with the airity, the g8/g20 (same pole) are a proper piece of kit
bigsexydoug Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 really appreciate your info lads, but i dont want to go down the 2nd hand route if possible, have you seen the preston zenotex at all ? any info you could tell me about that, mandrels builds carbon quality etc. also lads as you seem WAY more informed than me, have any of the companies set out next years pole ranges yet ???
animal2477 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 don't know much about the preston mate, the g20 is really worth saving a bit longer for it's as good as the tourny pro,and at a grand nothing comes close, dont worry about spares all top end daiwa interchange ctk5 tops are the ones from the airty, tourny, spectron, same as no 4's,short 4's all the same ones and all fit g8/g20 upwards
charliewag Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 i don't do enough pole fishing to justify paying out for something like a g20 but i got a good deal on a maver 'match this 2' this year which covers my needs. i know a lot of people who have daiwa g8, g20 and airity poles and all have commented how good they are. one friend has 3 g8 poles and before i got the maver i asked him to sell me one but he wouldn't!

DaveGas Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Had a waggle with both Daiwa G20 and Whisker All Terrain both nice poles but hopefully invest in the Terrain next year and wont be buying a new one for a very long after that. lol
Pkingy Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 if you want to try before you buy climax at dronfield has a pole alley where you can handle the poles at full length then if you find one you like ring round for best price
