I'm tiring of the incessant flood of political / religious threads now, its just constant, most have no actual content apart from the odd soundbite and or pasted bit from some unknown biased website or a youtube video.

They are normally posted by trolls who have a very one sided agenda and dont actually want a debate just throw as much crap out there as they can. Infact most arent even actual members just people rejoining under assumed names just to post more biased opinions.

Yep, getting very sad isn't it when you look at their signing up date and post history to see they only post on those kind of threads. It kind of invalidates anything they post, whereas you guys have been here some time and what you have to say is far more relevant and worthy of discussion.

Do any SF regulars actually care or are directly affected by the issues in that particular part of the Middle East, any more say than Egypt, Syria or Iran where there is unrest?

Its like a group of mates sitting in a pub and some random stranger coming in and shouting his mouth off to them about a completely random topic.

But they're often the best and most interesting in terms of discussion, before the usual suspects start getting personal and throwing insults around. I personally like heated and lively debates.

As for SF being a propaganda tool, it certainly doesn't allow freedom of expression on certain issues and we all know what those are. Abhorrent though some views are, they have a right to be heard.

I agree Suffragette1.

Is the General Discussion here specific to Sheffield? If so, i apologise for posting non-Sheffield specific threads.

If not, i have to agree, and i voted Yes; someone here with moderating powers has an agenda and is deleting threads based on their beliefs without allowing a conversation/debate to run its natural course.

This should be worrying to anyone.

Is that sarcasm or does length of time on the forum validate an argument?

I agree that certain posters do home in on certain topics simply to stir.

I blame SF for signing up to Googlebot which makes the forum searchable worldwide. Which in my opinion is a good thing, I don’t understand why someone would post on a topic they have no interest in and then complain about people posting on that topic.

Its specific to anyone who has a connection with Sheffield. Why else would you be here?

I have absolutely no connection whatsoever with this North East Forum so why would I join it and start posting on their general chat about Middle East stuff?

See my other post. Would you join that other forum and start posting specific religious tension topics?

You might be new, but at least you've posted on a wide variety of topics.

When you consider how many members there are and how many contribute to General discussions I'd say no. Only a small proportion actually use "General". General has become infatuated with race though. Nothing is said any differently from the last thread..it's just repetitiveness.

So no to SF but yes'ish to General.
