Agent Orange Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Could anyone please tell me where to park for access and also how far away the circle is from the road? I normally park at the bottom of the village (Birchover) near the Druid Inn and take the path that leads behind the first house, on the left side of the road (looking away from the pub). That path takes you right up to Stanton Moor. I'd say this was a mile or two, one way. Alternatively, drive through the village up towards Stanton in the Peak. Between the two villages, and a shorter walk from Stanton Moor, there is a car park on the left opposite some old stone mason works. Hope this helps.
Bruno Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Not sure where the closest place to park is, but we did this walk 2 weeks ago the rea is absolutely stunning with the autum colours.
nubile Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 If you park on Lee's road the distance you'll have to walk is 710 metres, or in old money 0.44 of a mile. Lee's road is hard to spot as it looks like a driveway, more info here. This is the shortest and easiest route with no hills, there are 4 gates to pass through.

I know exactly where you mean, but didn't realise you could park there. Learn something new everyday.

Yes it's fine to park there, just don't block the quarry gates opposite. I know it's obvious but don't leave valuables on show in your car, it may well cost you a broken window.
nubile Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Don't forget the other stuff up there. ! Stanton moor central is only 150 metres up the track from the Nine Ladies and worth a visit, and Stanton moor North is only 25 metres off the path you'll be on just a short way before you reach there, it's a good example of what can become of our history if not cared for.

nubile Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 even way out there?? Yeah mate, you get people who tour the honey pot sites robbing from cars, to fund their smack habit i'd guess and as the areas are quite remote cars are an easy target. I leave nothing in mine and leave the glove box open too, so they can see there are no valuables in there.
